API membership for Hippo Leisure

Hippo Leisure Products has become the first wet leisure play manufacturer to gain membership to the highly accredited Association of Play Industries (API).

Typically associated with the indoor soft play and outdoor play markets, the API accepted Hippo's case for their application to join the organisation.

Applying the strict membership criteria was a challenge for the API as Hippo is the first company manufacturing play equipment for swimming pools to make such a request.

However, following successful inspection of some recent Hippo installations, the way was paved for their entry to the API Indoor Section.

So why, though, put itself through such a rigorous selection process in the first place?

Hippo Leisure's Marketing Director, Claire Mollett says: "Hippo has always focussed its products on providing the ultimate in safe wet play for children of all ages. We continue to strive to develop softer, more impact absorbing materials whilst maintaining high levels of quality, performance and durability.

“After 10 years of successful installations, we wanted a worthy accreditation to openly support our commitment to making wet play safer.

“At Hippo we try to challenge the way things have been done in the past by introducing new materials and creating alternatives to traditional rigid plastic and stainless steel equipment.

"We have observed the demands of children at play which enables us to design products that balance their needs and confidence with peace of mind for the pool operator.

"All good play manufacturers are keen to work with an organisation of the API's standard and experience. This will only help increase our understanding of how to make better, safer and more stimulating products.”
